This full-scale kitchen renovation was truly a feast for the eyes. After years of pandemic living, multiple people working from home, and nearly a decade of stark-white kitchens and “wide open floor plans,” I was thrilled to finally work with a client who agreed—it was time for color to make a comeback.
When she told me, “Go ahead, do whatever you want,” I nearly melted. The original layout was open to everything—the foyer, stairs, living room, dining room, and bonus space. It was just too open. Let’s be honest—not everyone wants their dinner guests catching a glimpse of dirty dishes in the sink.
So, we took out the unnecessary peninsula and added a new perimeter wall, gaining an extra 10 feet of cabinetry, countertop, and storage space. The result strikes the perfect balance between open and intimate.
The rich green cabinetry acts as a neutral but feels earthy, grounded, and timeless—a welcome shift from all that white. A mix of natural stone and butcher block countertops keeps the surfaces from feeling one-note, and the custom high-back banquette creates the coziest eat-in nook.
Now, it’s a kitchen that feels both elevated and lived-in… and if you ask me, it’s bound to leave everyone else green with envy.
